Challenges of the existing education landscape

In the current education scenario, there are players such as schools, publishers, brick and mortar tuition centers and online portals. Every institution is focusing on textual learning and content and promises to accelerate academic performance.

However, all these players are using passive modes of learning such as recorded videos, broadcasted live classes and textual content. This makes learning boring and ineffective.

With the current generation being digital natives, the focus of learning has evolved from simple information gathering to understanding and experiencing the concepts. Rote learning and written exams are of little use at providing the practical education needed for a variety of vocational skills in life.

As a learner progresses in their grades, there is little focus on:

• Personalizing learning progression based on an individual’s learning needs

• Facilitating learners to experience the concept to garner a deeper understanding

• Enabling visualization and exploration of concepts

With the evolving requirements of the industry and career options, a greater focus on the above is very critical for the holistic growth of today's learner.

This calls for advancements in our curriculum as well as learning methods to keep up with the evolving requirements of the current generation. Learners should be allowed to learn whatever they desire from whoever they aspire. Additionally, technology enabled active learning needs to be facilitated.
